Share a Scare - 6th annual NL ghost story writing contest

Once again the three St. John’s city libraries are coming together to present youth in the St John’s area with an opportunity to share. We are hosting our 6th annual ghost story writing contest with celebrity judge, Dale Jarvis (international storyteller, personality, author and cultural protector of NL culture).

St. John’s is a wonderful old city steeped in mystery, folklore and spooky tales, so what could be better than sharing a creepy story? This is an opportunity for children ages 7-17 to share their stories and showcase their writing and story-telling talents. The winner receives a $50 Chapters gift card , a gift bag full of writing goodies, a chance to talk to an award winning author and a showcase for their work.

Reflections on Sci-Fi On The Rock 7 for Saturday

I had a fun day today at Sci-Fi On The Rock 7! The costumes were great, the crowd was impressive, and people seemed to be enjoying themselves tremendously.

I sold bunch of books, and had great feedback from people who have been on the St. John's Haunted Hike, or who've read my books, or my column in the newspaper.  I had several people tell me how much they love the Hike, and had pictures taken with fans! Yay!

I've been letting people know that I'm running a contest this weekend. St John's Public Library's Ghost Story Writing Contest 2012

We are back again for another year of scary tales and ghoulish fun!

The contest is sponsored by the St John's Public Libraries for young authors aged 7 and up. Deadline for entries is Friday October 19. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form found on our blog http://stjohnsghoststorycontest.blogspot.ca/ or ask for more information at any of the St John's Public Libraries!

This year's celebrity judge is Susan MacDonald author of Edge of Time.
